this started happening to me yesterday. from what i can tell this is heat issue that stems from poor design. i will explain why. when i turn on the droid it works, but i can easily heat it up by watching a video or using the web for a while, then it starts to malfunction. the malfunctions are all in the bottom center over the touchscreen g/v/t/space keys. my belief is that, under that area is an electronic component that is heating up most likely a bus from the cpu/gpu. it heats up under use and the heat goes thru the display from the bottom causing the touchscreen to malfunction.

i believe this is a known issue and extremely common on the droid and droid2. not sure about other droids. if you call verizon or any vendor, they have instructed their support people to blatantly lie to you and tell you "its the humidity" or some other bullsh*t and act like they haven't heard that exact problem from half of the thousands of people that have called them every day.

i have tried many things to fix this. factory reset, remove sdcard, use original battery or charger, cleaning screen. NOTHING works. the only thing i can do is not use the web or do anything to cause the droid to heat up.

its a shame because i really like this phone but this is a major deal-breaker.

Haha. I didn't want to spend money sending it to a technician so I just kept it in my drawer, used my other phone for a couple of days, turned on my Milestone and voila... problem solved.

I have same problem with milestone, first time within warranty and got repaired

And now again 1 month out of warranty and my phone is unusable. Its poor design that causes this Moto Fail

I shall never buy another Moto phone ever again. Least I can upgrade in 6 weeks so its not too bad a problem just have to buy a cheap phone to last me until then.

Tried all sorts of things to fix it but nothing works, seems ts just poor hardware and can only be replaced by technician
